Greetings,
This Third Sunday of Advent is marked by the specific character of joy, often symbolized by the different colour of rose rather than violet. The Entrance Antiphon announces this theme at the beginning of Mass: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Indeed, the Lord is near" (Philippians 4.4-5). In the Latin, "Gaudete in Domino semper", hence the name 'Gaudete' Sunday. As we enter into second half of Advent, we begin to joyfully anticipate the Lord's first Advent with Christmas (which is coming very soon this year on the heels of the 4th Sunday of Advent!).
Enjoy this Eucharistic Prayer Companion resources for this Sunday put out by the National Eucharistic Revival. Here it is available as PDF with the introduction.
Alternatively, you can find it easily here on their website blog which also has other great articles and resources.
The joy of the Lord is our strength! Come, Lord Jesus!
