Catechism Volunteers

Catechism Volunteering Opportunities

Catechists are responsible for planning lessons, preparing materials and activities and teaching all scheduled catechism lessons. They are also responsible for maintaining discipline and ensuring Safe Environment protocols are followed in their classroom.

Adult Classroom helpers assist catechists with their responsibilities in the classroom and may need to assume catechist responsibilities when the catechist is unavailable.

Youth Classroom helpers (youth under 18 years of age) work with adult helpers to assist catechists with their responsibilities in the classroom. They also serve as role models for the students.

Hall Monitors supervise the hallways, entrances and Narthex area (around the holy water font) of the church to ensure the safety and security of the catechism students.

Prayer volunteers commit to praying regularly for the catechism and sacramental preparation programs of our parish.

Short term commitment volunteers help with special projects (ex. Jesse Tree project, year-end celebration, preparing materials for catechists, etc...) when they are available.

Safe Environment protocols

The Archdiocese of St. Boniface and the Parish of St. Timothy are dedicated to policies that ensure the safety of all who are vulnerable but most especially the children in our care who are most precious to us. To create a safe and secure environment, we require all staff members and adult catechism volunteers who come into contact with our students to provide a current Criminal Record Search Certificate from the City of Winnipeg as well as a Child Abuse Registry check.

For information on how to obtain a Criminal Record Search Certificate please click here.

Child Abuse Registry checks are done through the parish's Safe Environment Coordinator. It is a separate form filled out in the office with either Michelle or Maria. You will be asked to provide two pieces of personal identification.
